You’re obsessed, right?

With Pinterest?

Maybe you’re just not ready to admit it…but I know you love it.

If you’re like me, you spend every free moment you can find working on your gardening, home decor, and recipe boards. Minutes fly by as you scroll endlessly through pictures of delicious food, exotic locations, bright colors, and clothes you would never even dream of trying to wear.

The world and everything in it is literally at your fingertips with the spread of images on this exciting new social media outlet.

Over the past six months, the number of users on this digital image board website has grown from 1.68 million last September, to over 16 million just last month. From December of last year to this January, Pinterest experienced their largest amount of growth with a 53% increase in membership, in just ONE MONTH!

I’m sure many of you spent your holiday vacation – between present wrapping and awkward family Christmas dinners – getting acquainted with the website that has become your new best friend, your new shopping buddy, your new recipe tester, your own, virtual Martha Stewart.

But what makes this simple and easy to use website so addictive?

Here are a few things – let me know if you agree:

It’s Simple – What’s more easy to use than a website full of brilliant photos of beautiful things? The entire interface is distraction free, simple to use, and the fact that you can scroll forever is so much fun!
There Are Soooo Many Pins – Do you love mustard yellow colored tea pots? How about succulent planters? Maybe you want to find every recipe possible for banana pudding? No matter your fascination or obsession, you can find it on Pinterest.
It’s Such a Chill Place - While Facebook statuses and tweets may stress you out, there’s nothing stressful about the never-ending world of Pinterest pins. And the site is all about building communities of like-minded folks with shared interests. Pinterest is so great that that it’s even been found that 80% of pins are Repinned from other users – only 1.4% of tweets are retweets.

On Moving & Community [Asheville, NC]

In the winter of 2007, I joined three friends as we packed up a minivan with food and supplies and left on a two week road trip to Kansas City and Chicago. I know, I know, we didn’t really think that whole idea through, going to those cities the week after Christmas was a bit of a precarious journey.

But, we had an amazing time.

We met wonderful people and we made plans for a future of living in community with one another. We even drew up what our dream home would look like with multiple rooms and offices and space to spread out and entertain – and where our dog would live.

Fast forward five and a half years and here we are.

Over the past years I have lived in dorm rooms, apartments, and duplexes. I have had 15 different roommates/housemates up to this point. And I have fallen even more in love with the idea of sharing my life with a number of people. I have become obsessed with community living. Be it in some type of commune or just living on the same street as my friends.

I truly believe that human beings are destined with live, work, and grow with other people. I know for me, having friends around me to support me, challenge me, encourage me, and love me is what has helped me survive over the past 5 1/2 years away from home – in my early adult years.

Now, the community living continues!

Yesterday afternoon I went to Asheville to finalize everything for a new home. This coming Sunday, Eric and I will be moving to the new house we will be sharing with Sarajane and her husband Kyle for the coming year(s)! We are so excited to begin this amazing journey together as we build a home and life in one of the most beautiful places in America (which just happens to be the three time winner of the title, BeerCity USA).

Look for exciting posts in the coming months as we decorate our new Asheville abode and make it feel like home.

Oh My Goodness, It’s You!

Hey! I’m so glad you were able to make it.

So here we are - Social People Productions. My name is Tyler, and I’ll be your guide as we journey through this experience together. I hope you’re ready!

For months now, I’ve been pondering how I can utilize my skills for party planning and social media and my passion for community and relationships to start doing something I love. I thought about a social media consulting business. Then I thought about an event planning business. Then I sat around for a few weeks and didn’t think about anything (seriously). Then, thanks to the suggestion of my dear, Eric, it was decided that the two - event planning and social media - could work hand-in-hand. And Social People Productions, was born!

When you think about it, it totally makes sense. Event planning requires creativity, organization, and networking. Social media is all about taking creativity, organization, and networking and creating new relationships. Can you see it? If not now, that’s okay – we’ll talk more about it in the future.

Long story short, today is our first official day of business. We’re open! We’re here! We are ready to hang out, get to know you, plan your events, and make social media work for you.

So, come on it and take a look around!
